Age 93, of Stanton Heights, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Mildred J. "Midge" (Ostermeier) O'Rourke; loving father of Meg Ann O'Rourke, Thomas D. O'Rourke and the late Kathleen J. O'Rourke; cherished grandfather of Fergus Reyniak; loving partner of Gia Regan; son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Lennon) O'Rourke; brother of the late Robert O'Rourke; step-brother of the late Betty Reichold, Scott and Paul Martin.

Don graduated from Central Catholic in 1947. He received his bachelors in 1951 and masters in 1956 in education from the University of Pittsburgh. Don started his career in education in 1951 and taught at Overbrook for a semester and then served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He was in basic training at Fort Breckenridge, KY-101st Airborne. Don was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division-31st Regiment - "The Polar Bears" and worked his way up to Sergeant as he served in the Korean War. He taught at Conroy and then Woolslair. Don was a counselor at Fulton, Dilworth, McCleary, Woolslair, Fort Pitt, Friendship, and Liberty. He was an assistant principal at Frick K-8 for four years and was also and adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh at that time. He retired from the Board of Education in 1989 with 38 years of service. Don worked at Duquesne University as a student teacher supervisory for 12 years.
