Obituary

Age 96, of Ross Township, formerly of Lawrenceville, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Beloved husband of 77 years of Anna C. (Pawlowski) Moltz; loving father of Anna C. Harrold, Christine F. Moltz, William J. (Carol) Moltz and the late William J. Moltz; devoted grampy of Daniel S. Williams and Adrienne (Michael) Grguras; great-grampy of Gabriella Leigh and Theodorus Michael; son of the late Joseph and Helen Moltz; brother of the late Joseph W. Moltz; brother-in-law of Beverly Killian; also survived by four nieces and two nephews.

In his teen years, Bill was an excellent swimmer, training for the Olympics. Then World War II broke out and Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. After the service, Bill attended auto mechanics school eventually opening his own garage. Due to a life changing accident he had to change careers and eventually becoming the Director of Housekeeping at Allegheny General Hospital and later the Director of Housekeeping at Mon Valley Hospital where he received numerous awards.

After retiring, Bill went to driving a school bus where he enjoyed the children and the children enjoyed him. Bill was on the finance committee of St. Augustine Church, where he also was an usher for numerous years, where he became known as the "Lollipop Man", handing out lollipops to all of the children at church for generations.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2754 - West View. Bill was a life member and past President of the Allegheny Country Rifle Club and was an accomplished trapshooter. He was also a past member of the Condor Aero Club, where he received his Private Pilots License. He was inducted in to the Concertina Hall of Fame in Wisconsin.

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, March 15, 2024 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish, St. Augustine Church on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
