Walter Roland Miller, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 94.

Walter proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In his younger years, he was known for his school spirit and served as the mascot at his high school. Walter was dedicated to serving his community, volunteering as a firefighter with Evergreen Fire Department, and for several years, spreading holiday joy by portraying Santa for Make-A-Wish children.  He was affectionately known by many as "North Hills' Finest," a nickname that reflected both his pride in his community and the lasting impression he made on those around him.

Walter enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially friendly competition in checkers and bowling, where he welcomed both laughter and connection with family and friends.

At the center of Walter's life was his beloved wife, Irene Miller. Together they built a life rooted in love, devotion, and family. Irene passed away on March 2, 2012, and Walter carried her memory with him always.

Walter was a devoted father to his daughters Cynthia (Rashid), Lynda (Stephen), and Yvonne (Edwin). He was a proud grandfather to Ashley (Giovanni), Sara (Ryan), Darrion, Zachary (Annie), Devin (Ulrik), Julia, Elyssa (Alex), and Hanna, and a cherished great-grandfather to twelve great-grandchildren.

Walter will be remembered for his deep love of family, his steady presence, and the joy he found in time spent with those he loved. His legacy lives on through the many generations of family who will carry his memory forward.

Walter is now at peace, reunited with his beloved Irene.

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Church on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
