Viola (Mosco) Madden, age 96, of Bloomfield, left this earth on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on May 18, 1928, Vi was the matriarch of her family who maintained her independence, love of family and friends, and gratitude for those who cared for her until her final days. She loved playing cards and her trips to bingo and the casino.  She had a special bond with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, who will cherish her memory forever in their hearts.

Beloved wife of the late James William Madden Sr; loving mother of Kathleen Rakow (late Robert W. Rakow) and son James W. Madden Jr. (Mary Lou Madden); cherished grandmother of Jaime (Rakow) Cerilli (Denny Cerilli); Robert J. (RJ) Rakow (Erin Rakow); Anthony P. Rakow (Amanda Rakow); Marybeth (Madden) Jowers (Brian Jowers); and James W. Madden IV (wife Nicole Madden).  Vi was known to her 8 beloved great grandchildren as "Mal": Salvatore and Dominic Cerilli; Cole, Eva, Ryan and Mila Rakow; Aiden Jowers; and Penelope Viola Madden. Vi was the loving daughter of the late Salvatore and Julia (Buzzelli) Mosco and the last surviving sibling of 10, 2 of whom died at birth: the late Edith Kopinski, Anthony Mosco, Alphonse Mosco, Christopher Mosco, Elizabeth Martrano, Philomina Kutosky, and Mariann Mosco. Vi was also survived by her special goddaughter, Julie Hester, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 2-7 p.m. Funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
