May 20, 1948 – August 6, 2025
After a long and intense 6 year battle with cancer, Lou succumbed on August 6, 2025. He was born on May 20th, 1948 in Lawrenceville to Stanley and Helen Gorski who were responsible for shaping his character. Further attendance at Catholic schools continued his training and moral code. After graduating from Central Catholic he pursued a degree in Political Science. Afterward he continued with a Master in Public Administration. Both degrees were obtained from the University of Pittsburgh. His next venture was attending Duquesne University where he received a Juris Doctor.
During his time at Pitt, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army and procured a slot in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard where he spent enjoyable and productive years. He retired as a Major.
After graduation he became the Borough Manager for Dormont where he encountered a wide range of challenges and decided to stay 14 years.
In 1990 he was chosen to become the Executive Director of the South Hills Area Council of Governments (SHACOG) and worked for 35 years on various projects interfacing with various municipalities, police, firemen, public works etc. etc. etc.
Lou is survived by June, his wife of 41 years, several cousins and a sister Marianne Adamczyk (Joe), and sister-in-law Beverly and Joe LaManna. The list also includes two nieces and a nephew.
Family and friends received at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street 15201 on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 1-4 and 6-8 pm. Traditional Latin Mass will be offered on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at Most Precious Blood of Jesus, 3300 California Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Burial to follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
