On Tuesday, January 22, 2019, age 98. Loving and devoted mother of Raymond (Pat) Czachowski, Kathleen (Thomas) Fagan, and Mark (Coleen) Czachowski; grandmother of Matthew (Mauri) Fagan, Sarah (Jamin) Gross, Caroline Fagan, Elizabeth and Erica Czachowski, Andrew (Marci) Czachowski, Jeff (Erin) McClay and Jenny (Kevin) Cvercko; great-grandmother of Caitriona, Abbey, Brady and Laiken. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond and son Charles. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. A lifelong resident of Lawrenceville, she was fiercely independent and a woman of great faith. Sophia was a graduate of Schenley High School and the University of Pittsburgh. She worked for Pittsburgh Public Schools as a Business Education teacher until her retirement in 1985. Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Thursday, January 24, 2019 and Friday, January 25, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Angels Parish, St. Augustine Church on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 10 a.m. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to AGH Hospice nurses and aides for providing comfort and excellent care to Sophia.
