Obituary

Rosalind (Roz) Marie Steratore Sugarmann passed away on October 21, 2023, at the age of 68.

Roz was born on November 3, 1954 to Anthony (Tony ) and Mary Steratore in Washington, PA. She grew up with two older brothers who she loved very much: Gene and Frank Steratore. She gave a lot of credit to her brothers who were 20 and 13 years older than her. They helped to raise her when her father, Tony, passed away when she was only 10 years old.

She would say one of the most important facts about her was that she was a recovering addict who got clean and sober on December 13, 1983. From that day on, she dedicated the next 40 years of her life to helping not only other addicts and their family members but all people. She was always there for whoever needed her.

She moved to Pittsburgh in 1983 to begin her recovery journey. She met the love of her life, Sean Sugarmann, in recovery, and they were married on July 25, 1987. They had four children: Anthony, Nicholas, Maria and Talia.

She would be described as selfless, strong, courageous and loving. The world is a better place because of her.

There are a countless number of people that credit Roz for who they are today.

She made her impact on this world and will be greatly missed by all.

Roz is survived by her four children: Anthony, Nicholas, Talia and Maria (Zane).  Also, her brother Frank (Sarah) Steratore, her nephew, Vince Steratore, and many other nieces and nephews.  As well as many others who were considered "Extended" family.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Sean Sugarmann, her brother Gene Steratore, her mother, Mary Steratore and her father, Anthony Steratore, and her very best friend, Barbara Manion.

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 2-8 p.m.
