Age 96, of Ross Township (Holly Hill), formerly of Lawrenceville, passed away on April 15, 2023 at Vincentian Home. Rita was the beloved wife of the late John J. Gallagher. Daughter of the late Anna and Paul Dongweck. Sister of the late Paul Dongweck (Alice), Gene Dongweck (Olive) and Jim Dongweck (Alice). Loving Mother of Cathy Thompkins (the late Dave), John P. Gallagher (Lynn) and the late Rita Connery (Bill). Loving Grandma of Stephen Connery (Lisa), Katie Gladowski (Dave), Patrick Gallagher and Anna Drury (Tim). Great Grandmother of Mason and Maddie Connery, John and Lydia Gladowski, and Willa Drury.

Rita treasured her early days in Lawrenceville and jokingly attributed her knee pain to the long walks along Butler Street and up and down Stanton Avenue with her girlfriends to and from the numerous dances they attended at West View Park. The front porch of her home on Holly Hill was her favorite place, as neighbors would stop by to "bull crap" with her all summer long.

A special thanks to the neighbors and friends who kept in touch over the years and the nurses, aides and staff at Vincentian and AHN Hospice.

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street , Lawrenceville, on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, St. Sebastian Church on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
