Age 77, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Clearwater, Florida. Born in Stanton Heights, she was the daughter of the late John Ruscella and Norma (Daughterty) Ruscella. Much loved sister of the late Laura (Ruscella) Roney (survived by James) and Joan Ruscella; and loving nephews, John Joseph Roney (Linda) and Kevin Patrick Roney (Tisha). She is also survived by great-nieces Natalie and Kailee and great-nephews Matthew and Michael, along with many cherished friends.

Phyllis's love of books inspired her career as a librarian. First, she was a City of Pittsburgh high school librarian for 17 years and then worked at college libraries for 25 years, including Georgia State, the University of Central Florida, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of South Florida. Before her retirement, she served as the St. Pete Beach library administrator.

Phyllis loved playing golf, reading books, and snuggling with her beloved cat, Mocha.

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Private burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
