Age 81, of Shaler Township, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Beloved husband of Janet Keally-Hegol; loving father of Michael J. (Kris) Hegol; survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grandson Eric Lucas, Jr.; son of the late Michael and Antoinette (Bross) Hegol; brother of Maryann (the late Frank) Siranovich and the late Lawrence Hegol; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mike was a founder of the Tamburitza Heritage Club "Zlatno", a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the Croatian heritage. He was the host of the radio program "Sounds of the Tamburitza" for over 40 years. Mike dedicated his life to his Croatian roots. For many years, he was involved with his family playing in the "Mike Hegol Tamburitza Orchestra." He enjoyed teaching junior and adult groups and airing a television program featuring ethnic musical groups for over thirty years. Mike will surely be missed by the Tamburitza community. Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 2-8pm . Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 11:30am.
