Mary Jane
(O'Malley) Diamantopulos
March 30, 1934 – October 1, 2023
Mary Jane Diamantopulos, affectionately known as MJ,
passed away on October 1, 2023, surrounded by family.
She was born on March 30, 1934 to Mildred and Patrick O'Malley. Mary Jane was the life of the party, always the first on the dance floor and the last to leave. She will be remembered for her quick wit, great sense of humor and her "Irish Whisper." Mary Jane was a cherished member of a special group of friends known as the "Red Riders," a bond that began in high school and lasted throughout her life. She was the last remaining Rider.
Mary Jane was a member of the Christ Child society, and also volunteered at the Clothes Line retail shop, which supports women's health and research at Magee Hospital.
In 1975, Mary Jane married George Diamantopulos, and they shared a deep and loving bond until his passing in 2015. One of their greatest joys was traveling the world together, creating cherished memories that lasted a lifetime. They were both avid sports fans, loudly cheering on their beloved Pitt and Steelers teams.
Mary Jane is survived by her sisters, Patsy Paolini and Margaret O'Malley, and her brothers, Tom O'Malley and Mark O'Malley. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, George Diamantopulos, her parents Mildred and Patrick O'Malley, her brothers, Patrick (Champ) O'Malley, and Father Jack O'Malley.
Per her wishes, there will be no visitation. A private interment will be held for immediate family members.
