Mary Eileen “Leenie” McMahon (Pascarella), age 74, of Gibsonia, formerly of the North Side and Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026.

Eileen was the first-born daughter of the late Mary (Hammill) and Joseph Pascarella and the devoted wife of Patrick J. McMahon, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. She was the proud mother of Joseph and Michael (Jody), as well as the late Patrick McMahon.

She was a cherished sister to Linda (the late Paul) Marraway, Joanne (Frank) Porter, Elizabeth Pascarella, and Jeanie (Ray) Cygrymus. She was a loving aunt to Phillip (Melissa), Matthew, and the late Sarah Marraway; the late Jill (Victor) Kotomski; and Emily and Carly Cygrymus. She was a beloved great-aunt to Addy and Paul Marraway and shared a special bond as a double-cousin with Kate Hammill, Nancy (Hammill) Collins and the late William “Billy” Hammill. Eileen is also survived by several devoted cousins who were an important part of her life.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, James “Muldoon” and Sue Ellen McMahon. She is survived by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Timothy (the late Carmella) McMahon, Elizabeth (Hal) Evans, Daniel (Nancy) McMahon, John (Liz) McMahon, and Mary Jane McMahon, as well as their children, Lisa, Natalie, Kelly, Jennifer, Megan, Tara, and Erin. She also held a special place in her heart for her late brother-in-law, James “Jimmy” McMahon, and his wife, Susan.

Eileen graduated from Saint Paul’s Cathedral High School in 1970, where she met many of her treasured lifelong friends, including Sandie Walsh, Nancy Worton, Debbie Amsler, Trish Donovan, and Chickie Lesnansky.

The University of Pittsburgh was a part of Eileen’s professional life for many years, as she worked there at several different points throughout her career. She met her husband, Pat, and they were married in 1974. Soon afterward, she became a devoted stay-at-home mother, raising her boys until 1992, when she returned to the University of Pittsburgh - School of Public Health. She went on to have a long and fulfilling career coordinating medical research studies, including Women’s Health, Aging Health, Epidemiology, and many others.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many family members and friends who gave their time, love, and support to Eileen throughout the last six months.

We are deeply grateful to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Allegheny General Hospital, especially those in the ICU, 6A, 6C, and 9A. Their compassion, kindness, and unwavering care meant so much to Eileen and to all of us who loved her. We will forever be grateful for the gentle and loving care they gave our beloved Eileen.

Above all, Eileen will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and friends. She treasured the people in her life and the memories they made together. She found joy in the simple things—a good book, a cup of tea, a conversation with someone she loved—and in the time spent with the people who meant the most to her. Her kindness, warmth, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she leaves behind will be cherished forever.
