Mary Katherine Connolly, age 56, of Shaler Twp, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at her home. She was born on December 16, 1964 in Pittsburgh to the late Charles Raymond and Gertrude Elizabeth (Gasiewski) Schweinberg.

Mary always had a selfless demeanor and was always willing to go out of her way for her family and friends; she truly had a generous heart. After graduating from Mount Alvernia High School in 1982, she worked for Pitt as a grant research specialist. In her late 30's she was inspired to help her community and decided she wanted to go back to school. Changing career paths in the midst of her life became an inspiration to many. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services from Geneva College in 2013 and worked as a social worker for Allegheny County.

Mary previously volunteered as a firefighter with the Cherry City and Irwin Fire Departments; as well as volunteered her time as an EMT with Shaler Township. She was active with the Rooted Women's Bible Study Group at Northway Christian Community Church, Wexford.

She had many unique passions in life, she was an avid bargain hunter who passed that love onto her daughter and also enjoyed teaching her beloved sister-in-laws the art of thrifting. She also loved to sew, often making memorable Halloween Costumes for her daughter, Amanda. In her younger days, Mary enjoyed partaking in family camping trips, going on adventures with friends, and learning new things whether it was a new recipe or how to ride a motorcycle. And no matter what she had going on in her life, she was always one to offer help to anyone who needed it,
even before they asked. She wore her heart on her sleeve so that she could easily imprint it on those she loved.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved dog and constant companion, Tobey.

Mary was the loving and devoted mother of Amanda Connolly of Shaler, PA, beloved sister of Ray Schweinberg and his wife Frannie of Industry, PA, Chuck Schweinberg and his wife Sandra of Ross Twp., John Schweinberg and his wife Denise of Mars, and Karl Schweinberg and his wife Debra of Bend, OR, and proud Grandmamma to her grand-cats Binxs, Thea, and Daisy, also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration Service will be held on Sunday, August 15th at 2:00 pm at Northway Christian Community Church, 12121 Perry Hwy., Wexford. Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh in her name. Arrangements by Walter J.
