Mary Catherine Ackerman, who most knew by her preferred name "Morgan", left us on January 11, 2023, following a long battle with COPD and cancer. Born on May 22, 1952, Morgan was predeceased by her mother and father, Clara Wroblewski and Chester Wojtas, as well as her husband, Samuel Ackerman. She is survived by her brother, Steve Wojtas, and her son, Jason Ackerman.

After graduating from Lumen Cordium High School in Bedford, Ohio, she moved to Pittsburgh where she met the love of her life, Sam. They had 30 incredible years together and following his death in 2007, Morgan settled down in Cleveland where she became a very active member of The Shrine Church on St. Stanislaus and spent most of her free time sharing her generous spirit with friends and creating a variety of art, something she was passionate about and took great pride in. Her son, Jason, moved from Chicago to care for her following her hospitalization in 2017, and they were blessed to get to know each other with six more beautiful years together. She left on her own terms in the same way she lived: with the strong will she was known for, surrounded by people who loved her.

To honor Morgan's memory, there will be a celebration of life service at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. There will be a gathering after at a local restaurant and those who intend on joining are asked to inform the family of their attendance ahead of time if possible. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to either help cover the cost of Morgan's memorial services, or to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in her name.
