Kathy (Banze) DiGiacomo, 66, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 19, 1957, to the late James and Joan (Rupp) Banze. Kathy grew up in Morningside before settling in Bloomfield in 1981. She retired from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Surgery Labs in 2020 after 25 years of service. She also spent many years working for West Penn Cardiology Associates.

Kathy enjoyed so much in life, including, but not limited to, watching "her" Steelers and Penguins games, many trips to Myrtle Beach and spending time with her family and friends. As a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Kathy was very active with her sisters and brothers at West View Auxiliary to Post 2754, and she recently served as a Deputy for the Pittsburgh VA Health System for the past two years.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Steven J. of Bloomfield; daughter Kristin M. of Bloomfield; son Matthew "Hoss" J. (Jennifer) of Shaler; and her most cherished treasures in life, her grandchildren Aidan Brunner, Josie, James and Justin DiGiacomo. She is also survived by her siblings, Jim (Nancy), Carol (Mike) Gapsky and Patti (Tracy) Banze; sister-in-law, Doreen DiGiacomo; brother-in-law Ron Culley; nephews Jimmy Gapsky and Jacob Banze and niece Alyssa Banze, friends who became family both near and far, along with many, many cousins. Kathy was also the "community mom" to all of Kristin's and Hoss's friends, and she will be very missed by them all as well.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Kathy's Life on Sunday, October 6 from 12-6 pm at West View VFW Post 2754, 386 Perry Highway.
