Kruljac
December 26, 1928 – April 21, 2024
Age 95, formerly of Lawrenceville and Ross Township, passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 21, 2024. He was the son of the late John and Mary Kruljac. John is survived by Mary Ann, his wife of 70 years; son Steve (Judy) Kruljac; grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Kruljac, Justin Kruljac, Jaclyn (Chris) Clackson; great-grandchildren, Chase, Natalie, Rylee and Brayden. He was preceded in death by son Michael (Dr. Catherine Quas) Kruljac.
John was born and raised in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh where he attended Washington Vocational High School. He went on the serve in the U.S. Army Special Services during the Korean War, where he played the accordion in USO shows throughout Japan and Okinawa.
After his time in the service, John worked in jewelry manufacturing as a goldsmith and diamond setter for over 40 years. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Musicians' Union, performing at supper clubs and local events in the Pittsburgh area. He also performed with his own orchestra, The Troubadours.
John worked at the Civic Arena and PPG Paints Arena for 59 years. He started as an usher when the arena first opened in 1961 and worked the majority of years as a ticket seller until he retired in 2020.
