Age 70, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away suddenly and peacefully on July 12, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and Jack Hesch. He is survived by his sisters Patty Hesch (Dave Petrella), Barb Hagarman and Eileen Hesch.

Lovingly known as “Uncle” to his six nieces and nephews, James Hester (Lisa), John Schwartz, Melanie Mannion (Fran), Gretchen Hester, Christina Hesch and the late Regis Wiktorzewski. Along with his seven great nieces Rachel, Renee and Rylie Hester, Isabel, Elizabeth and Olivia Schwartz and Evelyn Ed.

John was a proud member of the IUOE Local 95 and worked as a plumber in the Housing Zone at CMU for an amazing 52 years! John was known for his quick-witted sense of humor and would often have a good one liner for most of life’s situations.

He enjoyed the quiet life and would often be seen on his porch in Shadyside with a good cigar and his cherished dog Max. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, Devonshire Street residents, and co-workers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Animal Friends. 

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Blessing Service at the Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
