Age 89, of St. Petersburg, originally from Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on June 25, 2021. Daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Monroe. Preceded in passing by her loving husband, Robert L. Alvarez, Sr., son Robert L. Alvarez, Jr., sisters, Joan Abel Vogel, Elizabeth Killian, and brother, Joseph T. Monroe, Jr. She is survived by her son, Lawrence (Esther) Alvarez, Sr., daughter, Noreen Alvarez, daughter-in-law, Sylva Schmitt, sisters, Kathleen Harkins, Margaret McHale and Rosemary Monroe Dudas, grandchildren, Patricia Jeanne (Andy) Bailey and Lawrence Alvarez, Jr. (Mary Greenawalt), great-grandson, Oliver Bailey and many nieces and nephews. Jeanne proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Jeanne was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she volunteered a lot of her time. A member of the Holy Cross Women's Club, the Columbiettes Counsel #14815, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 273, a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League, a lifetime member of the Women Marine Association, and a member of 5 Towns Women's Club.
