Age 80, of Lawrenceville, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Gerard E. Salac, Sr.; loving mother of Kathleen "Kathie" (Todd) Bennett, Gretchen (the late Arthur, Jr.) Harrover, Gerard E. "Bunna" Salac, Jr., Jennifer Shannon (Paolo D.) Cicone and Scott G. Salac; devoted Mimi, Meems, Gram and Grandma of Natalie, Sara, Jason, Casey, Gerard E. III, Sienna, Carina and Paolo Jr. "PJ"; great-grandmother of Kelsi, Renny, Gracee, Avah, Silver, Benji and Lake; daughter of the late Robert R. and RoseMarie (Herbert) Flynn; sister of Judith Pecoraro, Debra (Mark) Fashion, the late Ronald (Dorothy) Flynn, Jeffrey Flynn and Robert Flynn; also survived by nieces and nephews.
Janice attended Woolslair for Kindergarten, Saint Augustine Grade School and Saint Augustine High School, all in Lawrenceville. She graduated from White Plains High School in New York and attended Business School in Greenwich Village in New York.
Janice volunteered at her children's grade schools in the cafeteria so she could see her kids throughout the day. She worked at Reed & Witting Company doing finance and accounting. Janice worked at Saint Francis Medical Center as a Telephone Operator and at UPMC Passavant-Concierge services & Telephone Operator at the call center.
When Janice was a young girl, she enjoyed horse back riding. As she grew older she was into Bingo, Bowling, loved Conneaut Lake Park and went there with her family twice a summer and had a lot great memories there. She would meet new friends then would schedule to meet them back up there every summer. She loved parties of all kinds whether it be with family or friends and just enjoyed hanging out at gatherings enjoying life. Christmas was her favorite holiday, she loved decorating and went above and beyond when buying others gifts for Christmas. She loved going to her Mother's on Christmas Eve with her children and grandchildren. She loved playing games at Amusements parks and Carnivals. Janice loved driving big trucks, loved getting her hair and nails done, she actually colored, cut, permed and styled other peoples hair out of her house. She loved watching football and baseball and was a huge Steelers and Pirates fan. She was loved by all and had a Heart of Gold!
Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 and Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
