George Alexander Siford passed away at his home on January 4, 2025. George was born on June 24, 1939, in Pittsburgh, PA. "Coach" Siford, as most people knew him, dedicated his life to improving the lives of thousands of young people in the greater Pittsburgh area. At the age of 5 he joined the Shadyside Boy's Club. His time there made a significant impact on his development. As a result, he would continue to spend most of the rest of his life mentoring, coaching, and reminding young people how to work hard and have fun. As a young man, he played professional baseball and received a scholarship to Loyola University for basketball. Subsequently, he worked for the Allegheny County Children and Youth Services for almost 3 decades. He has received several honors/awards for his contributions as a coach in the Pittsburgh area, particularly for basketball. He was known for his sense of humor and kind demeanor. He cherished family, friends, and the joys in life's simple things.

He was a devoted husband, father, step-father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred, and his son, Steven Siford. He is survived by his wife, Roseann Siford of Glenshaw, PA. His children, Dave Siford of Ross Township, Stephanie Siford (JC Bambach) of Suwanee, GA, Daniel Siford (Tyrone Henderson) of Lake Harmony, PA, Diane Siford of Shaler, PA, Justin and Christopher Lesniak of Glenshaw, PA. His grandchildren Cole, Todd, Samantha, Brian, Sean, and his ex-wife, Jane Siford, of Suwanee, GA.

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 12-8 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Homewood Cemetery.
