Age 66, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 with his family by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Louise (Koehler) Gottschalk, and his three daughters: Irene (Dustin) Kuhlman, Melissa (Dave) Ferrainolo, and Debbie (Mickey) Sullivan.

While he lived an incredibly full life, his pride and joy were his 7 grandchildren: Logan and Molly Kuhlman, Rooney and Lucy Ferrainolo, and Bizzy, Danny and Ryan Sullivan.

Born and raised in Lawrenceville, Fred was a yinzer through and through who bled black and gold and loved Pittsburgh sports. He attended Central Catholic High School, and some of his favorite pastimes were going to sporting events, spending his summers at his Have a Nice Day (HAND) Camp, and Sundays at the AOH. 10th Warders will remember Fred for opening up his home every Christmas Eve to sing, dance, and bring merriment to anyone who walked through the doors on Duncan Street. His favorite hobbies were listening to music, going to concerts, playing golf, and working in his woodshop where he made countless pieces for family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Regis and Patricia Gottschalk, and is survived by his sister, Dale (Mike) Lemon, brother Jeff (Kim) Gottschalk, and sisters Mary Pat (Rick) Lavery, Madalyn (Tom Spagnolo) Gottschalk, and Regina (Gary) Byrnes. He leaves behind by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. With a bright smile and a joyful spirit, he was beloved by many and will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the National Ataxia Foundation at ataxia.org in Fred's memory.

Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville on Sunday, June 23 from 1-6 p.m. A private Funeral Service will be held for the family.
