Francis A.
Jans
November 9, 1929 – November 24, 2024
Age 95, of Allison Park, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, November 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family throughout his final days. He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Adolph and Margaret Jans. Frank married Mildred I. Rudick on October 15, 1955 at St. John the Baptist Ukranian Greek Catholic Church.
He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 69 years who was a consummate caregiver to Frank for several years; two devoted and loving children: Frank Jans (Elaine) of Pittsburgh, Dolores "Dee" Lowery (Jeff) of Altoona; three loving grandchildren: Leah Weiss (Max), Evan Jans (Sydney), and Kara, all of Pittsburgh; great-granddaughter Charlotte Weiss, and several loving nieces and nephews.
Frank was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, Corporal, during the Korean War. After returning home from Germany, he worked at Erie Saw for a few years, then began a career as a salesman at Snap on Tools. Frank worked as a laborer then sweeper operator for the City of Pittsburgh for over 20 years. He worked as a district manager for the PA Lottery for 11 years, retiring at the age of 62.
Frank was a devout Catholic and prayed to the Blessed Mother of Fatima daily. He was a member of several local choirs, including Immaculate Conception Church, St. Augustine Church, Holy Spirit Church and the Teutonia Mannerchor. He had a phenomenal bass voice and will be remembered for his powerful, uplifting solo of Stille Nacht (Silent Night) at Christmas Eve Midnight Mass. Frank was also known for many memorable song renditions including Edelweiss, Ole Man River, Think of Me from the Phantom of the Opera, as well as many Happy Birthday and anniversary songs to family and friends. The Christmas Carols will be stronger than ever in Heaven this year!
Frank led an Ausgezeichnet (Excellent!) life until the very end! Auf Weidersehen - Until we meet again!
