Francesca
Shane
November 14, 1942 – May 6, 2026
83, of Bloomfield, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Heritage Grove in Penn Hills.
Born November 14, 1942, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Michelina (Nasini) Machi, who emigrated from Sicily. Francesca married Robert J. Shane in 1959 and remained devoted to him until his passing in 2014.
Francesca was the youngest of 12 children and the last of her generation. She was an artist, a talented cook, and the heart of her family. She enjoyed painting, reading, bingo, crocheting, gardening, camp, Christmas, Halloween, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lovingly organized family picnics and helped keep the Machi family closely connected. Known for her kindness and generosity, she was always willing to help others, even when she had little herself.
She is survived by her children, Jo Ann (Anthony) Ficorilli, Lynn Ann Shane, Alisha (David) Hartz, and Bryon (Stephanie) Shane; grandchildren Jessica (James) Matthews, Lauren (Matthew) Diederich, Andrew Ficorilli, Rebecca Dobbins (Alex Angleton), Tyler Powell, Brenden Shane, and Cameron Shane; and great-grandchildren Lydia, Delaney, Mila, Levi, and Kenly.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Michael (Christine), Frank (Rita), Vito (Lillian Grace), Robert (Rose Marie), Andrew (Josephine), and Peter (Lorelei) Machi; Rosa (Leonard) Drozinski, Josephine (Joe) Startari, Marie (Joe) Maggio, Catherine (Vincent) Vertullo, and Patricia (Raymond) Vivio. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Per Franny’s wishes, family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J.
