It is with heavy hearts the family of Eric Joseph Werder announces his passing on June 17, 2023 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Born on December 7, 1959, Eric was known for his intelligence, resourcefulness, and keen interest in just about everything. He worked various occupations throughout his life including the shipwright and machinist trades.

An unconventional thinker who lived an unconventional life, Eric was extremely creative and artistic and enjoyed drawing, painting, wood carving, and building metal sculptures. He was filled with grand ideas; always building, creating, and tinkering, utilizing cast offs and trash to devise something new and unique, which often graced the homes of friends and family.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, William and Carol (Funk)Werder. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers; Paul (Yasmin) Werder and Mark (Carol) Werder, and his sisters; Lisa (Terry) Brown and Beth Lucius. He will also be remembered fondly by his nieces; Gretchen McDaniel, Melissa Byrne, Caitlin Werder, and Nichole Werder, as well as his nephews; Aaron Lucius, Phillip Werder, Jon Henry Brown, Nathan Brown, and Mackenzie Brown.

A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
