Edward John Sullivan, 86, of Highland Park, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Oakmont, Pa. on August 13, 2026. Ed is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy P. Sullivan of more than 50 years: father of Edward C. (Dawn), Kerry (Kris) Gholson, Sean (Shannon), Katie (Fred); Brother to Timothy Sullivan (Kathleen), Donald Sullivan (Melanie), Diane Nawrocki (John), Maureen Sullivan- Spirito (John) and Brother-in-law to Lois Bell (Lloyd) and the late Dr. Rev. John P. Davis III; Grampy to Aidan & Porter Sullivan, Sully, Hannah, Keira & Peter Gholson, Calvin Sullivan and Lia Fenner; Uncle to ten nieces and nephews and many extended family members; friend to many. 

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, February 25, 1940 to Timothy J. and Mary Sullivan. Growing up in Providence, he attended Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady of Providence Seminary. He graduated in 1964 from URI with a degree in business management, and his MBA from Duquesne University in 1972. He worked for a period at the Pennsylvania Railroad. He spent 40 years at Bettis Atomic Power Lab. He was a member in the Oratory of Pittsburgh since 1966, more recently a member of Holy Family Parish Diocese of Pittsburgh and San Antonio Catholic Church, Punta Gorda, Florida.

Ed lived a life of great faith in Christ and devotion to his family. A dedicated man of service to multiple Catholic organizations, Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Highland Park Community, Peabody High School PTO, Boy Scouts, Birthright and the Ridgemead Community. He enjoyed time with his family, especially family vacations with his grandchildren. His motto for life was ‘Cor ad cor loquitur’, Saint Cardinal John Henry Newman.

A visitation at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, is scheduled for Friday, August 21, 2026 from 5pm-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, 11am at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Oakmont, PA.
