Edward Bartholomew Kmiecik, husband, father, artist and football lover, died 4/5/2022. He was 91.
Edward was born June 3, 1930, in Scott Township, Pennsylvania, and spent his life in Pittsburgh's South Hills. He is survived by wife Dolores (Fagan) Kmiecik.
A graduate of Scott High and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Edward served in the Korean War from1950-1955 as a medic.
After returning from service, Edward worked in the graphic design field at the University of Pittsburgh and eventually, Allegheny Label, where he worked on many of the Heinz company's signature product labels, from Heinz ketchup to baby food and also many well-known beer labels, like Samuel Adams and Stroh's.
Edward continued to create art into his 70s, frequently gifting family members and friends with keepsake sketches of their homes. Always a great lover of sports, especially football, Edward lent his talents to the Crafton Little Cougars Football program in the 1970s, as a coach and serving on the Board of Directors. An enthusiastic golfer into his early 80s, Edward also embraced bowling later in life.
Edward was the son of Stanley Kmiecik and step-mother Catherine Kmiecik, and the brother of Gilbert Sechrist and Stanley Kmick, all deceased.
Edward was the father of Michael Kmiecik and wife Suzanne, Cynthia Kmiecik, Mary Beth Ulp and husband Scott Ulp, Jacqueline Fisher and husband Paul Fisher and Kathryn Sinicrope and husband Shawn Sinicrope. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Greggory Kmiecik, Jeffrey Kmiecik, Rachel (Ulp) Seneca, Zachary Fisher, Brandon Ulp, Jessica Fisher, Grace Sinicrope, Gianna Sinicrope and Cole Sinicrope. He was the proud great-grandfather of Charlotte Kmiecik, Caroline Seneca, Jeffrey Paul Kmiecik Jr. and Willam Seneca.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, St. Margaret of Scotland Church on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
