Obituary

Earl was born to Watson and Lucy (Teyssier) Tappan on May 22, 1934. He was from Waverly, PA and a resident of Murrysville, PA for 21 years. He passed on Friday, December 24, 2021. Earl served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal upon being honorably discharged in 1960. From 1974 until 1980, Earl served as Maintenance Engineer for Westminster Towers of Orlando, FL. Earl worked for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Rooney Family, as Security from 2002-2010. In Earl's pastime, he enjoyed volunteering at Friends Thrift Shop in Export, PA and attending gatherings with his local American Legion Post. Earl was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and neighbor and always had a joke to make you laugh. Earl leaves behind his wife, Vanda Mary Tappan. He was the father of Anna (Mark) Michalek, Jim Costanzo, David Tappan, Lynette Feliciano and the late Earl J. (surviving wife Elaine) Tappan, Jr.. Grandfather of Hailey Nicole Lauer, Dustin Tappan, Josh Tappan and Jo Jo Tappan. Great-grandfather of Harley Tappan and Alisionna Tappan. Brother of the late Norman Tappan. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service with full Military Honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017 on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Earl's life will be held by his family at a later date.
