Domenic
Marasco, Sr.
November 25, 1945 – May 7, 2026
Domenic Marasco Sr. passed away suddenly at his home in Morningside on May 7, 2026. He was 80 years old.
Born on November 25, 1945, Domenic was the second youngest of nine children born to the late Frank and Ines (Macchioni) Marasco. He grew up on Lenora Street and attended Westinghouse High School.
Domenic celebrated 44 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carol, before her passing in 2012. Together they raised three children: Domenic Jr., Kim (Bob), and Jennifer (Jack).
Evident in his Facebook posts, there was nothing in this world Domenic loved more than his family — especially his five grandchildren, Robby, Christian, Roman, Claudia, and Savannah. Being their Pap brought him immeasurable joy. He was their devoted supporter and loudest fan, never missing a sporting event, always cheering proudly from the sidelines.
To many in the Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Morningside and Highland Park, Domenic was affectionately known as "the mayor." He was a familiar face to everyone — walking the Highland Park Reservoir daily with his dear friends, stopping into neighborhood coffee shops, and sharing stories and laughter with anyone lucky enough to sit beside him. He took great pride in looking out for his community, always ready to remind neighbors about street cleaning and never afraid to speak up when something needed to be done.
Domenic knew everybody, and everybody knew Domenic. More importantly, everyone who knew him loved him. He was a man of integrity and honesty — genuine in everything he did.
A hardworking man throughout his life, he left high school to help support his family doing construction work. Later Domenic worked at the Sears distribution warehouse before retiring from the Allegheny County Public Works department in 2005. He was an avid runner for much of his adult life, participating in numerous marathons and road races.
Above all else, Domenic Marasco Sr. will be remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, pap, friend, neighbor, and — in the words of those who loved him — simply "one of the good ones." His kindness, warmth, and larger-than-life presence leave a void that can never be filled, but the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of those he cherished.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
KA3AXP, Dad.
