Obituary

Bronia was a strong and determined woman whose remarkable life reflected both the hardships and triumphs of the twentieth century. Born in Poland, one of six children, she grew up in a close-knit family and held a deep reverence for her father, whose strength and values shaped her own.

On her very first day of school, the world changed-World War II began. As a young girl in occupied Poland, she witnessed history unfold in the most personal and profound ways. With quiet courage and moral conviction, she helped Jews during the war, risking her own safety in service of others. Those early experiences forged in her a resilience and bravery that would define her life.

Even as a young woman, she defied expectations. At a time when it was unheard of for women in Poland to do so, she rode a motorcycle-an early sign of her independence and fearless spirit. She carried immense pride in her Polish heritage throughout her life, honoring her culture in word and deed. A natural entrepreneur, she owned and operated a textile store and became the primary breadwinner for her family. She possessed a keen business sense and an unyielding work ethic. When she later immigrated to the United States, she faced the challenge of building a new life without knowing the English language. Undeterred, she took on whatever work she could to support her family, meeting each obstacle with resourcefulness and determination.

She was known for her generosity, particularly toward fellow Polish immigrants. She helped countless newcomers find their footing, offering guidance, comfort, and practical support. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome. She stayed close with her neighbors, sharing stories and preparing traditional Polish meals. Ever industrious, she even sold her beloved pierogi to local restaurants to earn extra money-turning her culinary talents into yet another way to provide.

Her mind remained sharp and engaged through nearly 93 years of life, a testament to her vitality and strength. She will be remembered as a woman of extraordinary courage, deep faith in family and heritage, unwavering determination, and boundless generosity. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she sustained, and the traditions she so proudly preserved.

She is survived by her daughter Jolanta Sliwa, son-in-law Wojtek Sliwa, and son Sebastian Lipinski - married to Marianne Lipinski. She also has 4 grandchildren: Rafal Sliwa - engaged to Randi Martin, Aliya Lipinski, Lauren Lipinsk, and Alivia Lipinski, and one great-grandson Brantley Sliwa.
