Bridget A.
Dowd
December 2, 1928 – September 6, 2023
Bridget Ann Dowd (nee' McGinley) of Maghera, County Derry, Ireland. Passed away peacefully on September 6 surrounded by unconditional love, unending blessings and joyous mourning for the full and unwavering strength she has showed us all through the entirety of her earthly life with us. She was a devoted Catholic, life-long servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his beloved mother, Mary. She leaves a legacy that will run deep through the core of those that mourn with her passing and their families for generations to come. As we mourn, we also celebrate the aura of her spirit that will remain with us until we join her in Paradise.
Bridget was a resident of Pittsburgh for 43 years after migrating from Ireland in 1952. She was a resident of the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh for 21 years and the Morningside neighborhood for 46 years - where she raised her beautiful family and grandchildren.
Devoted wife and caretaker of 37 years of James "Jimmy" Dowd (1992) of Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland. Beloved and cherished mother of Maureen Noble (William "Bill"; 2008); James "Jim" Dowd (Laureen); Bernadette Conneely (Bartley), and Shaun (Kathleen). Forever Nana to Brendan Conneely (Emily), Stephen Conneely (Katie), Colleen Conneely (Chris), Connor Dowd (Matt) and Garrett Dowd. Adored by her great-grandchildren Adelyn Conneely, Bridget Conneely, and Maeve Pacley.
Daughter of the late James and Margaret (Henry) McGinley. Loving sister of the late John McGinley (2019) (Phyllis) and Winifred Bradley (Noel 2021). Cherished by countless nieces and nephews and their beautiful families in the States, Ireland and beyond.
Bridget ("Nana", "Wee B", "Bridie") Dowd: you've taught us all the meaning of a life fulfilled. May we all follow in the footsteps you've left us, until we meet again for eternity. Rest beautifully in peace and comfort.
