Age 97, of Morningside, on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy M. (Williams) Sippel and Margaret "Kiki" (Swanson) Sippel; loving father of Larry (Glenda) Sippel, Tom (Rose) Sippel, Terry (Elizabeth) Sippel, Lynn (Joe) Karaffa, Patti (Dave) Lang and the late Donald (Dorothy) Sippel; step-father of Dan (Jennifer) McGowan and the late James McGowan; also survived by 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother of the late Dorothy Sippel. Bernie served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Captain, piloting C-46/C-47 transport aircraft, with the 68th sqdn, 433rd Troop Carrier Grp, 5th US Army Air Force, in New Guinea, the Philippines, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Japan during WWII, 1942-1945. He enjoyed his time singing and the friendships that were made while singing in the Barber Shop Chorus and was a proud member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J.
