Alexander Dean Lauterbach, age 37, passed away tragically in a car accident on May 31, 2026. Though his time was cut short, Alex lived a life full of achievement, passion, and deep connection, truly living out his dreams.
First and foremost, Alex was a deeply sentimental family man. He possessed a charismatic personality and laugh that could be heard even in a crowded room of family and friends. You could not help but smile seeing how happy he was.
He was a proud fiancé, so excited to be planning a wedding for this coming December with the love of his life, Michala Facchiano, who had truly become his better half. Their love was strong and carried them through the toughest of times. They were meant for each other in this life and the next. At home, his dog Lola was his world and his sidekick, you could always find her with Alex.
Alex grew up in the Fox Chapel area and excelled at everything he put his mind to, always welcoming a new challenge. He loved to push himself physically and mentally, which included a never-ending friendly competition with his brother Benjamin, as the two bonded over so much.
He was passionate about everything outdoors. He loved riding dirt bikes, quads and side-by-sides. You couldn’t find a garage big enough for Alex and it was always filled with trucks, cars and toys of all kinds.
As a proud alumnus of Penn State University, Alex graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering. He brought the same drive and sharp mind to his career at Range Resources where he worked for nearly 15 years ultimately ascending to the position of Completions Engineering Manager.
The relationships Alex had with his family and friends were incredibly important to him and he cared deeply for their well-being and happiness. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, adventure and profound love.
Alex is survived by his loving parents Bernard and Natalie Lauterbach; brother Benjamin Lauterbach; sister in-law Morgan Lauterbach; fiancé Michala Facchiano; as well as many wonderful and loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, co-workers and everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
