Albert "Albie"
O. Schempp, Iii
November 25, 1948 – January 25, 2024
Age 75, of Pittsburgh, passed peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Son of the late Albert Schempp, Jr. and Lois (Tiedeman) Schempp; brother of Debra; uncle of Ryan.
As a Roman Catholic priest and a member of the Order of St. Camillus, Servants of the Sick, he had parish ministry experience and was a chaplain in long term care, hospice, and hospital settings, notably San Camillo Retirement Community in Milwaukee, WI and UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Fr. Albie's prior professional career experiences were as a senior-level human resources executive for a variety of non-profit and public sector organizations including the city governments of Miami, FL, Pittsburgh, PA, and New York City. In addition, his secular career included teaching and working in inflight services for a major airline. He held an undergraduate degree in Economics, a M.Div, and MBA.
Fr. Albie strived to be faithful to our merciful Lord Jesus through his untiring devotion to the sick. He passionately embraced the quotation of St. Camillus, patron and founder of his religious community, who said: "Care for the sick as a mother cares for her only sick child."
